Jaywing Leeds

The interview with Jaywing went pretty well! As a matter of fact, they were incredibly nice to us. As it was our first job interview together as a creative team, Grace and I spend some time preparing questions and doing research about the company. Despite being a small agency, Jaywing combines data and creativity into their ideas. What I liked about their agency is that they dug deep into their consumer insight. The insight became the foundation of their ideas. It didn't feel that foreign to me. All the terms that they used at the agency are what we used in class as well. One of the campaign that I thought was interesting was the First Direct campaign. It touches on a boring topic: 'Mortgage' which people struggle to understand sometimes. Banks can be terrifying when one is unfamiliar with the terms.

Despite some technical issues, what they liked was the thought process behind some of our work. They also asked each of us to go through the project that we liked in particular and our side hustle as well. Grace and I then asked them for some advice as a junior creative team. My take away is:

1. Find an agency that you are genuinely interested in. Don't jump on the first ship that comes. It might not necessarily be the best. You could be doing things but not learning anything.

2. Don't follow everyone's advice.

3. Look confident, be enthusiastic and be yourself.

That being said, they sent us a brief to work on just to get a feel of how we work and our thinking. The Historical Royal Palace is one of their clients. We'll get back to them by Monday 19th July. Interesting brief to work on.
