Alessandro Agenllini Singapore Part 2

Image
Another email from Alessandro dropped last Friday. If I remember correctly, I might have drop Alessandro an email and Charlotte a message from LinkedIn both at the same time.  I think that since emails can easily be pushed down by other emails, dropping a message on LinkedIn might be better and faster.   But now that I look back at the email that I sent out, maybe it is the way that I word it which caused some confusion.  I wrote that if he could kindly take a look at one of the projects from my portfolio and give me some feedback on it but I did not mention if we could jump on a call and talk through it or anything. So he literally just gave me some feedback through email and that's it. Still, I thanked him again because with another perspective, I could work on the project again. In his email, he noted that 'it feels like a generic environmental awareness' campaign and that it does not feel very Extinction Rebellion. Looking back at it again, I do agree with his ...

Alessandro Agnellini Singapore

Since the last talk went well, I was so passionate about connecting that I started to drop more emails with more people. However, I couldn't sleep very well with this one. What happen was that I dropped an email to Alessandro from Ogilvy Singapore since I saw that on their website, they have done some work on climate change and I was hoping that perhaps, I could get some feedback since I also did some work on climate change (Extinction Rebellion) However, the email that came back was for me to send my portfolio over and that he would get back to me as soon as he can.  There is nothing wrong with this.  But what I was hoping was for me to present some of my work and talk it through with him......  I'm assuming that he prefers to go over himself so I just drop him a link to my Behance. The lesson learnt is that you can't always be there to present your ideas. The idea should speak for itself. If someone cannot understand your idea, it's a missed opportunity then. At ...

Charlotte from CULT LDN

Tuesday was a productive day. I connected with Charlotte, the strategist from CULT London and we managed to jump on a call. To be honest, I wasn't even expecting anyone to get back to me. I messaged her on LinkedIn and within 30 mins, she got back to me saying that she is happy to answer any questions on being a strategist and to go through my portfolio on Wednesday. I find that while I'm leaning into art, I do enjoy finding insights, strategy and stuff. Turns out being a strategist isn't as boring as it sounds.  Since I was so nervous, I even prepared a script in case I missed out anything. What I did was that I put together some slides with 3 of my projects on it, and a bit on my passion project. Previously when I was doing an internship in Singapore, the first question that my creative director asked during the job interview was: 'Apart from work, what else do you enjoy doing?' I ended up talking to him for 10 mins about my passion. I guess sometimes creative d...

Portfolio Making

Image
These days, I took the opportunity to build on my portfolio. There were a lot of interesting projects that I work on and while we are all trying to make connections with the people in the working world, I think the portfolio shouldn't be negligent as well. This is so that in case, I really get to speak with someone, I should like to show them something that I have done. Previously, when I was doing my diploma in Singapore, I find that my portfolio was really lacking. It wasn't showing much of my skills as I wasn't too sure if I would like to be in copy or art. I just thought that perhaps my 'best' works should go in. Then I realised that there isn't a 'best' work. It should be work that could help showcase my skills.  At the moment, I only have 4 projects. Which seems quite sad but it's fine. I will continue to add more in the meantime. Some of the projects require more fine-tuning in terms of the ideation or the layout which I will work on. On the...
